Nay Pyi Taw October 7

Tatmadaw is shouldering national political and national affairs duties under democracy government beginning 2011. We have witnessed the public understanding of Tatmadaw because of its national defence duties giving priority to serving people’s interest and protecting public lives and property, declared Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at his meeting with officers, rankers and families of Thanbyuzayat station at the advanced military training school yesterday afternoon.

Also present were Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, wife of the Senior General, Joint Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) Commanderin- Chief (Air) General Khin Aung Myint, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Vice-Admiral Tin Aung San, senior officers of offi ce of Commanderin- Chief (Army), Commander of South-East Command Brig-Gen Myo Win, officers, rankers and families of Thanbyuzayat station and trainees.

The Senior General said efforts are being made to fulfill the requirements in connection with military affairs. Policies ensuring privilege for every soldier are being adopted. Although manageable scale farming was done as a fund raiser for Tatmadaw in the past, these businesses have become welfare for families under the present policy. The increased salary should be used wisely. Education and health are being promoted. As the standard army needs modern weapons, education promotion has been launched to raise the qualification of Tatmadawmen required to handle these guns. Effective trainings are being conducted in bringing out efficient soldiers. Trainings are being enhanced to raise the qualifications of soldiers apart from education promotion. There are also trainings to enhance fighting ability. Tatmadaw is promoting the education and knowledge of soldiers who are enduring all kinds of hardships. Hence all should value their work. Soldiers were promoted on 1 October for their dutifulness and loyalty to Tatmadaw. More promotions will follow in the future.

We believe that physical and mental building will strengthen the spirit of sacrificing life for the nation and Tatmadaw. Soldiers should always preserve their fine traditions of high morale and good discipline which are their backbone. They must be trained to become soldiers successfully shouldering their duties under minimum control and supervision. Tatmadaw will become a reliable force for people and the country if it is built with such fine traditions.

The ongoing peace process started in 2011. Tatmadaw’s policy is to keep Our Three Main National Causes intact. A six-point peace principle which is more comprehensive was adopted. The country will enjoy the fruits of peace soon. Peace and stability is required for national development. The observance of rules and the law is a must in democracy. All enacted laws must be observed. All must live within the framework of law while exercising the rights systematically. Persons who will really work for the benefit of region and nation should be chosen in the coming elections. Trainers should teach trainees correct and practical lessons. All must be dutiful to become reliable persons for the nation and Tatmadaw.
